A RARE ORIGINAL ANTIQUE BARBER OR DENTAL CHAIR. This mid 19th Century innovation is made of walnut and retains its original black horsehair upholstery. From the Eastlake period, it probably dates around 1870, and is adjustable, and has an adjustable metal mechanism on the side that allows the chair to recline, and once in the fully reclined position a hidden footrest will swing out. The frame is solid walnut with carved scrolled embellishments on the side. SIZE: Approx. 48” to the top of the back, and approx. 25” w. CONDITION: Horsehair upholstery on the front is basically in very good condition–a couple of small breaks on the end. The upholstery on the very back of the chair has pulled away in a few places, and the original webbing on the underside has pulled away. The wood is structurally good, and in the original old finish. 1-3204 (800-1250)
