CONTINENTAL WALNUT PARQUETRY GAMES TABLE. Second half 19th century, probably Austria. This fine example with hinged round top designed with a central checker board flanked by inlaid square panels for players’ game pieces, all within tromp l’oeil 8-pointed stars of contrasting inlays, all within a sawtooth inlaid border. The parquetry surfaces in walnut, mahogany, satinwood and yew on pine. The tilting top with pierced and scrolling foliate apron joined to acanthus carved and turned standard raised on a foliate carved tripod base. SIZE: 29″ h x 27-1/2″ dia. CONDITION: Honey brown polished surfaces with professional restoration to old shrinkage cracks. Very good. 9-26082 (1,500-2,500)
