FINE REGENCY PARQUETRY AND MARQUETRY SIX DRAWER HIGH CHEST. Third quarter 19th century, English. Rectangular case surmounted by unusual pierced brass 3/4 frontal gallery with canted corners above dentil molded cornice, conforming case with 6 graduated long drawers mounted with brass escutcheons and ring pulls cast with floral rosettes and bow tied ribbons. Each drawer inlaid with a conch shell within oval patera. Drawers cross banded and with contrasting candy cane striping. The whole raised on tapered square legs. Case sides each with rectangular panel bordered by scrolling foliate inlays centering a large conch shell within oval patera suspended on candy cane tasseled drapes beneath bowtie inlays. SIZE: 58″ h overall x 39″ w x 19″ d. CONDITION: Overall structurally very good with small losses to veneers between drawers and rear of case sides. Case with shrinkage cracks on side panels.
