A NEW ENGLAND HETCHEL WITH RARE PAINTED BACKBOARD. 2nd quarter, 19th Century. Of typical form. The maple backboard and mount paint-decorated overall with berries on vines. The back with an ink inscription “27” and “60”. SIZE: 6-1/2″ x 23-1/2″ (board) CONDITION: Structurally very good. Spikes are asymmetrical due to use. Painted surfaces with wear, slight discoloration, and losses along base of mount. 9-20962 (600-800)
