LOUIS VUITTON WARDROBE STEAMER TRUNK. Early 20th century, France. With serial/lock no. 020608. The rectangular hinged lid opening to a well fitted with compartmented tray, the lid interior quilted. The front of trunk with four latches additionally fitted with a pair of doors opening to reveal two long drawers mounted with leather handles. The lid and interior of trunk retain two original labels with “RUE SCRIBE/PARIS” and “NEW BOND ST./LONDON.” The case ends with brass carrying handles. Cloth bound of typical form with three wood straps and original brass fittings. SIZE: 23-1/2″ h x 39-1/2″ l x 22″ d. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Key absent and with slight scuffing leather edges, otherwise very good. 9-26830 (1,500-2,500)
