ATTRIBUTED TO ADRIAEN JANSZ VAN OSTADE (Dutch, 1610-1685) THE VIOLIN BOY. Oil on heavy tin plate shows a young boy playing a violin next to a man with tattered clothes and hat with three other children beside. They stand in an alcove, presumably a tavern, and playing for money. A landscape scene is seen beyond. Unsigned. Housed in a 19th Century frame liner. SIZE: 15-1/4” x 12-3/4”. CONDITION: Some signs of restoration in center, some inpainting. Fair to good. 9-72973 (700-1,000)
