NEW ENGLAND FEDERAL INLAID MAHOGANY CARD TABLE. First quarter 19th century. The rectangular hinged top with inset corners of asymmetrical and unique configuration above the conforming frieze with string inlaid feather fletch. The center of the frieze with an inlaid oval of figured mahogany. The whole raised on four tapered square legs. The frontal legs headed with oval inlaid paterae. This interesting example we believe to be the product of a provincial cabinet maker because of the many unique characteristics of the structure. Included is the use of a two board top and the application of hinges on the top itself. SIZE: 27-3/4″ h x 34″ w x 16-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Each top with a narrow front board and wide back board. This appears to be an original element of construction. Table has been excessively cleaned. Hinges are original. Structurally very good. 9-20578 (2,000-4,000)
