EXCEPTIONAL BLACK FOREST CARVED BEAR HALL STAND. Second half 19th century, Switzerland. This example with single cub and mother bear carved of linden wood depicting the cub sitting at the top of a tree, the mother bear standing at the base of the tree, left paw extended to a branch forming an umbrella holder. Both done with brown glass eyes and open mouths. The whole on a figure 8 form base modeled of stylized branches centering a tin drip pan, raised on carved feet. SIZE: 76-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Very good overall with original surfaces and good color. Minor and normal shrinkage cracks in mother bear. 9-97895 (4,000-5,000)
