PAIR OF BELTER LAMINATED CHAIRS IN HENRY CLAY PATTERN. Circa 1865. Each rosewood example done in possibly the original gold tufted silk upholstery. The floral and fruit carved cresting centering a rose, has some minor difference in the treatment of one daisy blossom and to the treatment of the leaf beneath the central rose blossom. The laminated scrolled back carved with leaf tips, the serpentine seat rail carved with rosebuds, the cabriole front legs with leaf tip carved feet raised on brass casters. SIZE: 36-1/2″ h of back x 19″ w of seat. CONDITION: Both chairs retain original surfaces. One chair with old patch at side of proper left rear leg. Right rear leg with old repair of split.
