IMPORTANT RUSSIAN ENAMELED KOVSH. Last quarter 19th century. This oversized enameled example hallmarked in the center “88” (916/1000 silver) followed by a male profile bust looking left and two Cyrillic characters. The wide body enameled overall with scrolling polychrome vinery within a geometric floral border and three turquoise beaded borders, the body with inverted rim, notably at the longitudinal ends. The applied handle having conforming enamel work. The handle with three concave grips. Gross weight: 38 troy oz. SIZE: 4-1/2″ h x 14″ l x 7-3/4″ w. PROVENANCE: Property of an East Coast Institution.
