CARVED BLACK FOREST SPECIMEN BOX. Late 19th century, Switzerland. The rectangular box with hinged lid surmounted by a standing bear. Opening to an interior fitted with six small pivoting trays each with cane bottom. The exterior box sides carved simulating a stone wall. The large latch carved with a gargoyle mask. SIZE: 13-3/4″ h x 12-3/4″ w x 10-1/4″ d. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Very good with original surfaces. 9-26807 (300-500)
