NANTUCKET LIGHTSHIP BASKET. Circa 1972. Signed by the maker, R.J. Leichter and dated “1972” on the oval panel at the base of the purse with a bent wood swing handle attached with bone fasteners, hinges and clasp also of bone. The lid, having an oval panel decorated with a scrimshaw whale. The interior of the lid attached with a scrimshaw placard reading “Helen Dahl”. SIZE: 13″ h overall x 9-3/4″ l x 7″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall with original surfaces. Showing some wear to woven hasp and craquelure on wooden surfaces. 9-20558 (700-900)
