CARVED WALNUT STEPBACK BOOKCASE. Last quarter 19th century, Switzerland. The rectangular cabinet, in two parts, the upper section with molded cornice, the pilasters carved with leaf tip vinery centering flower heads with medial divider, the interior fitted with two sections of adjustable shelving stepped back on a cupboard base fitted with a pair of doors carved overall with foliate vinery centering a cartouche carved with a pair of lions facing a tower raised on claw feet. The cabinet with a pair of pierce carved crests in the form of trophy mounts. SIZE: 93″ h x 73″ w x 18-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Very good.
