H. LEACH FOLK ART CARVING OF A STEER HEAD. Circa 1869. Boston, Massachusetts. Nicely carved steer mounted to a walnut plaque with incised scrolling floral decoration. The back of the plaque branded “H. LEACH/BOSTON/1869”. Note: H. Leach, a recognized carver of nautical figureheads in greater Boston moved to Woburn, MA where he continued his craft. SIZE: 19″ h x 16-1/2″ w x 13″ d. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Head with shrinkage vertical shrinkage crack through middle of carving in need of tightening. This is a very tight crack that can be re-joined with little of no visible seam. Generally very good with old untouched surfaces. 9-26851 (800-1,200)
