NEW ENGLAND FLORAL HOOKED MAT. Second half 19th century, Maine or New Hampshire. Depicting a central spray of flowers within a dense stylized foliate oval border within conforming floral spandrels woven primarily in reds, greens and browns, all on a beige ground. This fine example similar to those seen on plate 45 and 46, page 43 in Rare Hooked Rugs by William Winthrop Kent. SIZE: 48″ x 27″. CONDITION: Retains vibrant colors throughout with minor losses to borders. Otherwise good. 9-98391 (300-500)
