MAGNIFICENT CARVED BLACK FOREST STAG SHELF CLOCK. Second half 19th Century. Switzerland. Beautifully carved example of a startled stag rendered with brown glass eyes standing on rock work and posed over a fallen tree trunk in which is centered a clock face with enamel Roman numerals, the dial simulating cross-section of a log. The base fashioned with oak leaves, ferns, and intertwined branches all on a conforming base with simulated branch border. Clock offered with key and pendulum. SIZE: 32-1/2″ h x 27-1/2 w x approximately 15% d. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Very good with untouched surfaces. Medium brown colored with nice patina.
