ROCOCO WALNUT VICTORIAN HUNT BOARD. Third quarter 19th century, Northern European. Of unusual form, the bowfront case with molded edge fitted with three aligned drawers, each with a carved simulated branch handle. The back fitted with a pair of etched and cut beveled mirror plates depicting a bear and a deer in a wintery mountainous landscape beneath a scrolled crest carved with acorns and oak leaves centering the head of a carved bear. The whole raised on tapering fluted and ring turned legs joined by a shaped and molded H-stretcher. A full body carved bear in the center. SIZE: 76″ h x 72-1/2″ l x 34″ d. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Side board has been stripped of blue paint and refinished with loss of patina and color. Structurally good. 9-26878 (1,000-1,500)
