LARGE BLACK FOREST BEAR AND BABY BEAR HALL TREE. Late 19th century, Switzerland. Of typical form carved with the young bear at the top of a tree beneath which is mounted a shield form beveled mirror, the mother bear standing at the foot of the tree looking upwards. Each bear with brown glass eyes. The standing bear with right paw extended above an oval drip pan serving for umbrellas. The base carved in the form of interwoven branches on tree trunk feet. SIZE: 80″ h x approx 27″ w overall. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: With old surfaces, somewhat dry but with good color and patina. Some minor abrasion at front of base. Generally very good. 9-26804 (2,000-3,000)
