BLACK FOREST CARVED STANDING BEAR. Late 19th century, Switzerland. The standing bear with outstretched forearms wearing a wide leather collar modeled with brown glass eyes. Believed to have been carved in the manner of a dancing circus bear. Now mounted on a square plinth. SIZE: Carving: 41″ h. Overall: 44-1/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: With old original surfaces and old vertical shrinkage cracks up both sides of back. Proper left forepaw has been reattached. Generally very good. 9-26864 (500-1,000)
