TWO CARVED BLACK FOREST TABLE TOP BEARS. Circa 1900. The first, carved in walnut, of a bear beside a tree on a rockwork plinth, standing before a carved ring emitting from the tree trunk. The second, a humidor in the form of a carved linden standing bear with hinged head opening to a storage compartment for tobacco holding a basket. The bear is standing on oval rockwork plinth carved with a rectangular receptacle for matches. SIZE: First: 11-1/2″ h. Second: 14″ h. CONDITION: Both in original condition. The first appears to have had an object in the right paw of the bear. The second is with a small shrinkage split at front of plinth base. Glass eyes original and intact. 9-20642 (800-1,200)
