FRANK HILL SMITH (American, 1841-1904) SEWING ON THE VERANDA. Oil on canvas scene shows young woman seated in a rattan chair on an open veranda overlooking grass covered lawn and tranquil ocean. Sun appears to be rising with nice pastel colors. She wears a long flowing blue dress with lace trimmings. She works on what appears to be a flower print tablecloth. Signed lower left “F. Hill Smith 75”. Housed in a magnificent gilt gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 17-1/2” x 25”. CONDITION: Relined, very minor inpainting. Very good. 9-26746 (5,000-8,000)
