BLACK FOREST CARVED LINDEN WOOD BEAR BENCH. Circa 1900. In three parts, depicting two carved standing bears with brown glass eyes, fore paws extended supporting a central bench, the back pierce-carved with foliate scrolling trellis work centering a small standing bear, the ends in the forms of scrolled arms. The single board plank seat carved with floral accents. For a similar example see “SWISS CARVINGS THE ART OF THE ‘BLACK FOREST’ 1820-1940″ by Jay Arenski, Simon Daniels and Michael Daniels- pg. 149, plate 248. SIZE: 24-3/4″ h x 48″ l x 15” d.
