FINE IRVINGTON, NJ CEREMONIAL FIREMAN’S TRUMPET. Circa 1898. This beautiful example of a silver plated chased and decorated silver plated fireman’s trophy “Presented to Hose Company No 2 By The Irvington News in its Contest for the Most Popular Fire Company February 1st 1898”. Of typical form, with oval mouthpiece joined to a cylindrical flaring horn mounted with a pair of carrying rings, this parade horn decorated overall with chased scrolling vinery. The mouth engraved in florid script with the aforementioned quote, the swelled midsection embossed with a scrolled cartouche centering “IRVINGTON NJ / FIRE COMPANY / NO 2″ centering a rosette cast with firefighter symbols. SIZE: 19” h. CONDITION: Very good overall, extensively tarnished, plating believed to be intact beneath tarnish. 9-98295 (750-1,250)
