JAPANESE CEREMONIAL SAMURAI STYLE SWORD. 20th century. This handmade example with burnished blade, the habaki (blade collar) stamped with the serial number “0100”, the brass tsuba (guard) cast with flowerheads, the tsuka (handle) woven with rawhide wrapping. The sword fitted within a metal scabbard painted green and mounted with 5 cast metal bands. SIZE: 40-5/8″ l overall. CONDITION: Very good overall, the blade retaining a polished appearance, no evidence of rusting or pitting. The handle somewhat dried, but intact. Scabbard with minor paint loss and chipping. 9-97523 (100-300)
