LATE REGENCY JAPANNED SEWING TABLE. First half 19th century. The round hinged top with scalloped scrolling edges centering a foliate spray inlaid with abalone within gilt and japanned borders. The top opening to an interior fitted with lidded compartments for sewing implements. The bulbous turned standard floral decorated, raised on a tripod base with scrolling legs terminating in upturned feet, all gilt heightened. SIZE: 28″ h x 18-3/4″ dia. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Wear to gilded surfaces. Chips to scalloped edges around top. Otherwise good. 9-26880 (400-600)
