AMERICAN FOLK ART CARVED FIGURE OF A CIVIL WAR UNION INFANTRYMAN. Early 20th century. Carved from the solid depicting a bearded soldier with slouch hat, full uniform and pack, bed roll, canteen, rifle and bayonet. His belt buckle engraved “U.S.” and raised on a carved plinth. SIZE: 41″ h overall. PROVENANCE: Barnard Estate of Augusta, Maine. CONDITION: Good overall with old weathered patina displaying normal shrinkage cracks. Losses at rear of base due to weathering. 9-20999 (800-1,200)
