RARE STEVENS PLAINS, MAINE TOLE DOCUMENT BOX. Second quarter 19th century, American. Fruit decorated overall with peaches, strawberries and apples. The lid with a spiral ribbon border. All with yellow trim against a black painted background. Typical of tole pieces from Stevens Plains, but a rare example with fruit decoration. SIZE: 5-1/2″ h x 8-3/4″ l x 4-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Overall very good with expected age and appropriate wear. 9-25649 (600-900)
