FIVE CARVED AND PAINT DECORATED TRADE SIGNS. Late 19th, early 20th century. 1) Hat maker’s sign in form of a top hat. 2) Druggist sign in the form of mortar and pestle carved from the solid. 3) Two sided pocket watch trade sign. 4) Carved dentist’s sign in the form of a tooth. 5) Broom and brush maker trade sign. Lot accompanied by newspaper article about old trade signs. SIZE: 1) 25-1/2″ h. 2) 30″ h x 12-1/2″ dia. 3) 28-1/2″ h x 21-1/2″ dia. 4) 11″ h. 5) Broom: 28″. PROVENANCE: Barbara J. Thornsjo Estate, Albion, Maine CONDITION: All with good early surfaces. All with some fading and losses to paint and gilding due to weathering and all within normal parameters.
