SMILIN’ SAM ONE CENT FIGURAL PEANUT DISPENSER. Primarily manufactured in the 1940s, the originals depicted a black man and subsequently due to “political correctness”, most were painted in red. A full sized and well detailed head, a penny was dropped in the slot, and one would pull the tongue out, and a serving of peanuts would be dispensed into your hand. Truly a piece of Americana, and a classic statement of political thought during this time period. This particular machine was reproduced in the late 1980s and is of the quality of the originals.
