VERY EARLY GUM/CHOCOLATE L-SHAPED MACHINE. An early coin operated four column gum/chocolate vendor with patent dates from 1888 to 1892. Embossed on the front “Volkmann, Stollwerck & Co., New York & Chicago”. A wooden oak case houses the mechanism and one would choose the flavor of gum or candy, deposit a coin in the appropriate slot, and push in the plunger. This type of machine was often found in subway and train stations and other places of commerce where an abundance of people would pass through on a daily basis. SIZE: 10″ w x 9″ d x 30″ h. CONDITION: Wooden cabinet has been restored, including minor wood patch to lower right front corner. Overall good to very good. 1-10832 (1,500-2,500)
