Additional Information: The description and image are correct. Since the catalog printing we have learned from the family that it was one of Barbara’s favorite items in the collection and was originally purchased by her from Edit Gregor Halpert Antiques of NYC in the 1950s.

SHERATON PENNSYLVANIA STENCIL DECORATED TRIPLE BACK SETTEE. Second quarter 19th century. The rectangular crestrail with shaped ears joined to three shaped splats alternating with stiles all stencil decorated with clusters of fruit and nuts. The downswept arms with roll supports centering as shaped plank seat raised on eight swelled cylindrical legs joined by a box stretcher. SIZE: 35-1/2″ h of back x 74″ l overall, 17″ h of seat. PROVENANCE: Barbara J. Thornsjo Estate, Albion, Maine CONDITION: All painted and stenciled surfaces original with extensive wear on armrests. Frame with multiple shallow surface scratches. Structurally intact. Good overall. 9-20832 (500-800)
