NEW ENGLAND GRAIN PAINTED PINE CORNER CUPBOARD. Mid 19th Century. In two parts, the upper case fitted with a concave cornice and framed with concave molding centering a six-panel, smoke decorated door opening to an interior of two fixed shelves joined to the conforming mid-molded lower case having a pair of solid cupboard doors flanked by picture frame molding and molded pilasters continuing to a cutout base. The lower case interior fitted with a single fixed shelf. The cupboard decorated overall with feathered graining in burnt orange and cream. The upper door smoke-decorated in gray and mustard tones. The upper case interior in blue paint, the lower case interior in cream. SIZE: 79-1/2″ h x 47″ w x 26″ d. PROVENANCE: Barbara J. Thornsjo Estate, Albion, Maine CONDITION: Repair to cornice molding left front facing; glass panels original in upper door, two cracked. paint decorated surfaces original.
