MILLS “TWO-BIT” DEWEY UPRIGHT SLOT MACHINE. Patented in 1898, the Dewey was produced by Mills for 20+ years. Truly one of the most mechanically reliable and attractive of the Mills upright slot machines. A quarter, or up to six quarters, could be played. If all six slots were selected, you were guaranteed a winner. Rewards would be anywhere from fifty cents to five dollars. Overall a very fine all original condition Mills Dewey with the early style cabinet. The quartersawn cabinet retains its original finish and the iron castings retain their original blackened copper finish as well. The lithographed tin wheel is more aesthetically pleasing than the normal wheel found on Deweys. This particular wheel is known as the “pie wedge” wheel. Unusual to find any upright in untouched all-original condition, a smaller side panel door that gave access to the cash bag has unfortunately been lost and replaced. SIZE: 66″ h. CONDITION: Overall very fine. Front coin cover casting has chip out of upper left corner and an old repaired crack to right side to the same panel. Interior shows original Mills paper label detailing date of manufacture, inspector, etc. Comes with original locks and keys. 1-10597 (15,000-20,000)
