E. CAMILLATI (Turkish 1st Half 19th Century) “LEANDER OF SALEM – JAMES SILVER COMMANDER”. Fine watercolor ship portrait shows a black and white hulled two mast brig, sailing right to left in full sail into Smyrna Harbor, flying an American flag. Below the well executed water is a black border with white inscription “Leander of Salem – James Silver Commander – Made in Smyrna by order of Jph. Corrier, Sailor” and signed “Ed. (Edmund ?) Camillati Fecit”. Housed in a gold wood frame with double matte. SIZE: 16-1/2″ x 21-1/2″. CONDITION: Some toning, generally very good. 9-26608 (1,500-2,500)
