AMERICAN MINIATURE PAINT DECORATED MAMMY’S BENCH. First quarter 19th century. This rare example of a doll’s mammy bench or salesman sample with rolled horizontal crestrail, paint decorated and stenciled with a floral spray above eight swelled spindles joined to down curved arms with rolled grips. The S-form plank seat stenciled and decorated along the front rail, fitted with a child guard bracket raised on cylindrical legs and terminating in rockers. SIZE: 10-1/4″ h of back x 15″ l overall. CONDITION: With all original surfaces, the stenciling and paint decoration now faded, with later repairs to back stiles at arm connections. 9-98322 (700-900)
