RARE AND IMPORTANT SHAKER QUATREFOIL TWILL BASKET WITH HANDLES. Late 19th early 20th Century. Possibly Mount Lebanon, New York. This lovely round example with original burnt orange or persimmon wash surfaces featuring a quatrefoil design in the center of the basket and fastened with shaped bent wood handles. The top of the grips with a heart design. For a similar example see “THE ART OF THE SHAKERS” by Michael Horsham, page 123. SIZE: Height of basket 3″; Overall height with handles 4-1/2″; 9-1/4″ d.
