TWO MAHOGANY BUTLER’S TRAYS. Last quarter 18th century. The first, a George III example, with folding stand. The rectangular tray with 3/4 gallery and shaped pierced grips, of dovetailed construction, being sold with a later vintage folding maple X-form stand. The second, an American example of dovetailed construction and with simulated graining, constructed with a four sided gallery edge, each with a pierced hand grip. SIZE: First tray: 3-1/2″ h x 28″ l x 20-1/4″ w. Stand: 16″ h x 25-1/2″ l x 14-1/2″ w. Second tray: 4-1/2″ h x 34″ l x 22″ w. CONDITION: The first tray with good original color and patina, structurally very good. Tray bottom with a sliver out of corner, 3-1/2″ x 1/2″ approximate visible from underside of tray. The later stand structurally good. The second tray with good original surfaces and with shrinkage cracks to bottom of tray. 9-98402 (800-1,200)
