NEW ENGLAND SHERATON CARVED MAPLE AND BIRCH TESTER BED. Circa 1840. The ring turned columnar head posts joined to a paneled headboard and the swelled ring turned and reeded urn form foot posts supporting an arched tester frame. The four posts topped with a turned finial. The whole joined by large square side rails and head and foot supports, originally drilled for rope work now mounted with angle iron for boxspring. SIZE: 84″ h x 56″ w overall, 49″ w internal, 79″ l overall. CONDITION: Bed frame now with a later red wash. Bolt covers appear of the period. One foot post with a chip in a ring turned element. Canopy frame extensively reworked in a professional manner. 9-98352 (800-1,200)
