FINE SHERATON CARVED MAHOGANY AND FIGURED MAPLE DROP LEAF SEWING TABLE. Second quarter 19th century, probably Coastal MA. The square top with hinged D-form leaves and with molded edges above the conforming frieze fitted with a bank of three drawers, each with birds eye maple fronts. The top drawer fitted with compartments and a baise lined adjustable writing surface. The middle drawer fitted with a compartmentalized tray. Bottom, a simulated drawer, functioning as a bag slide. Raised on ring turned and spiral twist cylindrical legs terminating in pointed feet fitted with casters. SIZE: 29″ h x 18″ w of top closed, 35″ w of top open x 19″ d. CONDITION: Very good overall. Professionally repolished. Retains original hardware and casters. Proper right rear leg mounted with a 6″ steel brace on interior of leg reinforcing an old break. 9-21523 (1,500-2,500)
