AMERICAN PAINT DECORATED DOCUMENT BOX. Mid 19th century. This nice pine example painted in a blue gray tone, the lid decorated with a floral spray in an oval patera. The front panel painted with a fruit still life, the sides painted with stylized hearts in the Pennsylvania Dutch tradition. The hinged lid with applied half round molding opening to an interior showing traces of original old wallpaper. SIZE: 5-3/4″ h x 11-3/4″ l x 8″ w. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Painted surfaces appear original. Still life possibly with later embellishments. 9-98100 (1,000-1,500)
