LATE GEORGE III INLAID MAHOGANY SERPENTINE CHEST OF DRAWERS. Late 18th Century. The rectangular Santo Domingan Mahogany figural top with molded edges, canted corners and serpentine front above the conforming case fitted with four graduated serpentine drawers with cockbeaded edges. Flanked by canted pilasters, each with a contrasting satin wood inlaid panel. Molded plinth raised on bracket feet with scalloped returns. SIZE: 35″h x 40-3/4″ overall w x 21-3/4″ d. PROVENANCE: Woolworth Collection (F.W. Woolworth Dept. Store). CONDITION: Restored and re-polished with rich brown color and good patina. Brass is replaced in original holes. bracket feet original. Original back boards reset. 9″ split at proper left rear side of case needing re-attaching, otherwise very good. 9-21343 (1,000-2,000)
