LOT OF 9 TRANSPORTATION RELATED SIGNS. 1) Mobile oil gargoyle 24″ diameter, 2-sided porcelain sign. Originally top of a lollipop sign. One side in very good condition, other shows some stress crazing; metal bezel somewhat rusted and pitted. 2) United Motors Service cardboard sign of silhouetted couple in early motorized carriage with high-wheel bicyclist trailing behind. Bottom corner marked “United Motors Service – No. 8”. Reverse label reads “Kalasign Display”. Good condition with some background discoloration to varnish and a few varnish drips; small surface break lower right corner; scattered scuffs and scrapes. Sight size: 36-1/2″ w x 27-1/4″ h. 3) Pope Mfg. Co. Columbia bicycle lithograph. Easter themed advertisement from this Hartford, Ct. bicycle maker dated Easter 1896. Illustration of colonial couple on horseback juxtaposed with a Victorian couple out for an Easter Sunday ride. Near excellent. 9-1/2″ w x 13-1/2″ h. 4) Wards Service Station 1931 calendar. Humorous image of fly fisherman landing the skirt of a lady motorist attempting to change a tire. Good to very good condition. Sight Size is 14-3/4″ w x 19″ h. 5) Atlantic Aviation Motor Oil sign. Double sided painted metal sign with early aircraft graphics. Good condition with scattered scuffs, scrapes and slight discoloration as expected for an outdoor sign. Size is 22-1/2″ w x 11-3/4″ h. 6 & 7) Two Harley Davidson 1948 dealership posters, summarizing the Montgomery Alabama May 22-23, 1948 race. Both good to very good condition. Size is 23″ w x 35″ h. 8) 1931 Motorcycle poster for the Rockingham racetrack in Salem, N.H. Includes images of eight top circuit racers. Very good to excellent condition. Size is 22″ w x 28″ h.
