AMERICAN PAINT DECORATED CAROUSEL CHARIOT. Circa 1900. This two-seat polychrome painted example carved overall with vinery and C-scrolls. The sides scalloped and shaped, raised on carved wood wheels. The bench seats with stencil decorations. SIZE: 48″ h x 71″ l x 23″ w. CONDITION: Over the life of this chariot several minor reinforcements and restoration have taken place. The interior appears to retain original painted surfaces. The exterior has been retouched or repainted in several areas. It is probable that the rear seat originally had a back, now absent.
