RARE HERSCHELL-SPILLMAN CARVED AND PAINT-DECORATED CAROUSEL FROG. Circa 1910-1915. These figures carved exclusively by the Herschell-Spillman company, depicting a fanciful crouching green-spotted frog. A nearly identical example is located on the Herschell-Spillman carousel operating in Greenfield Village in Dearborn, Michigan. An additional frog is illustrated in “ART OF THE CAROUSEL” by Charlotte Dinger, pg. 89. NOTE: Stand is not included with this lot. SIZE: 34″ h x 50″ l x 13″ w.
