CARVED AND PAINTED TOBACCONIST FIGURE. Second half 19th century, American. Native American maiden with five feather headdress, a cluster of berries and a flower upraised in right hand, a bundle of cigars in lowered left hand. Attired in blue tunic with fringed hem and collar tied at the waist with a red sash. Modeled standing on a square platform. SIZE: Statue: 69-1/2″ h. Overall: 78″ h. CONDITION: Retains old painted surface over original paint. With abrasions to cigar ends, loss to left thumb and feather tips with small losses. Otherwise good. 9-25756 (7,000-10,000)
