NEW ENGLAND WILLIAM & MARY TWO DRAWER PINE BLANKET CHEST IN RED PAINT. 18th century, probably Connecticut. The rectangular hinged top with applied molding opening to a well in the conforming case. The case with two aligned simulated short drawers above a simulated long drawer over two long drawers. The base with applied molding, the shaped rear legs a continuation of the case. Frontal legs of turned onion form. SIZE: 42″ h x 37″ l x 18-3/4″ d overall. CONDITION: Structurally in very good condition. Lid molding later replacement. Restoration to applied moldings on drawer dividers. Brass hardware a later hand made reproduction. Hinges replaced. Many original rose head nails throughout. 9-20509 (1,000-1,500)
