RARE OVOID STONEWARE JUG WITH INCISED FISH ATTRIBUTED TO JAMES MORGAN AND JACOB VAN WICKLE IN OLD BRIDGE, NJ. The brown glazed jug having an applied handle with a splash of blue. A 3” oval with incised fish surrounded by a serrated marked oval splashed with blue. The neck with line ribbing and ribs at shoulder. The pottery was established in 1805 and operated until 1840 in Old Bridge, NJ. SIZE: 12” h. PROVENANCE: Collection of Avis Howells, Belfast, Maine. CONDITION: Two depressed areas on body of the jug, in the making; other imperfections and some loss to finish, possibly in the making giving it a nice folk art quality. 9-25143 (600-900)
