TWO SOFT PASTE TEAPOTS WITH STRAP HANDLES AND A PEARLWARE EXAMPLE. Mid 19th Century. The fist, a Liverpool style decorated with a British sailing ship, the reverse with a compass rose beneath a banner “COME BOX THE COMPAFS” applied with a strap handle terminating in floral leaf tips and a leafy spout. The lid with a floral finial. The second in the oriental palette decorated with a landscape and a dwelling. The opposing side with a verse “WHEN THIS YOU SEE/ REMEMBER ME THO/ MANY MILES WE/ DISTANT BEE”. Applied with a strap handle and leafy spout with lid paint decorated with an acorn finial. The pearlware example, floral decorated within rows of scrolling leaf tips applied with a C-scroll handle. The lid with a ball finial. Additionally decorated with the monogram “RHC” in script. SIZE: First 5-1/2″ h; Second 5-1/4″ h; Third 7-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones. CONDITION: The first with small chips and fleabites on the inner rim of lid, slight roughness to spout, otherwise good. The second with minor roughness to spout.
