The main panel showing a British and French soldier, each with his national flag shaking hands beneath the banner “MAY THEY EVER BE UNITED.” The opposing cartouche of a stylized interspercing of national symbols beneath a similar banner “MAY THEY EVER BE UNITED”. Beneath the spout is a view of the cast-iron bridge over the river Wear circa 1796. SIZE: 10-1/2″ h. PROVENANCE: From the private collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones.
