ALLEGORICAL SILK NEEDLEWORK PICTURE “THE TEST OF ABRAHAM AND ISAAC”. First half 19th century. This large silkwork depicting Abraham, knife in hand, in the act of sacrificing his son Isaac as a test of his obedience to God. His gaze is fixed on an angel in the sky above him. Each figure is rendered and hand painted on silk. Foreground and background are nicely rendered in needlework. SIZE: sight 21-3/4″ x 25-1/4″ frame size 29″ x 33-1/2″ CONDITION: The silk panel has overall discoloration and staining that we believe to be restorable.
